Dolceacqua, Italy

Summer is here and it seems it will be for a while, for someone who is not a fan of hot weather, this is not my favorite season, and I am constantly looking for fresher places to go, but now that I am two weeks of my due date, this is becoming more and more complicated.

I’ve heard of Dolceacqua a few months ago, and decided it was about time to pay a visit, after all nothing better than a medieval town with high and narrow walls to keep it fresh right?

At only less than one hour from Nice, and being in one of my favorite countries to visit at the moment, yes Italy, I am talking about you, this was just the perfect place for a quick one day trip.

The town is very small and narrow, a medieval labyrinth. But is so interesting to walk all around the town because almost everywhere there are little details that will definitely catch your eye. And of course, do not forget to pay a visit to castle’s ruins, and learn more about the town’s history.

PRANZO!

You thought I was going to leave without talking about food? Of course not! And as usual when in Italy I had a fantastic lunch and I want to share it with you.

We found the restaurant by chance, when we were looking for a nice place to sit and have lunch. I Gumbi is a restaurant that prepares food only with local products. Authentic, delicious, local Italian food, what else can you ask for!

The menu costs 26 Euros, and you get an Antipasti, a Primi Piatti, Secondi Piatti and Dessert, and you wont’ regret it for a second!

I definitely recommend Dolceacqua if you happen to be nearby, and are looking for a nice place to spend the day, have amazing food and scape even for a couple of hours from the summer heat!
